Comment by M.O.C.:
no focal point here. you got your camera too close and it couldn't focus. put it to the flower setting for the closest focusing.

The icy path

Comment by Yo_Spiff:
This probably got scored so low because of the lack of visible ice. Seems like a shoehorn attempt. It's not a bad pic, though. Aside from not meeting the challenge theme, I would have probably given it a 5. I can see an effort at composing an interesting shot of a good scene. My eye flows up the path and to the bridge quite nicely. Clarity and sharpness seems lacking a bit, especially on that nice stonework on the bridge. Some curves adjustment and sharpening would have probably helped that.

To play JPEG police for a moment, your file size is only 89k. With up to 150k available, you may have been able to reduce the compression level and gotten a touch more detail into the entry. Also, the method used for resizing often has a serious effect on how much detail there is in the final product.

Can you read love?

The shadowed shape of the heart is awesome, however... I would have liked to have seen this with perhaps a recognizable love poem in the background. The words 'bumps' and 'spluttered' jump out at me for some reason, and it takes my eye away from the focal point. The concept itself is fantastic.
