Psittacine Aviculture = Beauty & Majestyby Mystique2Comment by BeckyT: Composition is fine. It looks like you used a flash so it took some details out of the bird feathers. I like the gray tone of the bird but think the pink area around the beak would make these pop if it was brighter. The focus seeme a little soft. It might be fun if you played around with rotating the image to see what affect you get. IMHO |

Natural Vibranceby Mystique2Comment by Judi: Greetings from the Critique Club.
Composition: The central aspect but controlling of the viewers attention is well done. The eye branches out from the center well.
Technical: This is the area that has let you down. Selective Desaturation was not meant to intend for colour to be over the entire or majority of the image. I feel if the flower surrounds was left in BW then your score would have benefited.
Overall: Try re-editing for a more flattering image. |

Psittacine Aviculture = Beauty & Majestyby Mystique2Comment by Krystle: i like the capture and crop very much. the lack of lighting on the tail though kind of makes it fade into the background, which is something i'm not liking, as the rest of the subject is visible. great idea though, 6 |

Watering the Cropsby Mystique2Comment by Citadel: Greetings from the critique club!
As mentioned in a few previous comments, make sure you submit the largest size allowed. The bigger the picture the more we can appreciate the subtle details of your entry.
The colors are fairly good but could use a bit more saturation. As you mention in your own comment, there is a pretty good sharpness and contrasts are nice.
Interesting challenge idea. However the water limits the convergine lines feeling as we can't see far enough through the irrigation system. The water definitely adds interest however so I'm not sure how to approach this. Perhaps with larger submission we could see more detail and get that feeling more.
Overall a pretty good first entry. Welcome to DPC! |

Natural Vibranceby Mystique2Comment by MaryO: Columbine is lovely, but would have been the focal point even without the desat (which appears to still have a purple tint to it). |
