There's a lot to this, that all comes together to make it "work".

Monochrome is always good for creating a sombre tone. The subject is mostly in the dark, except for her hand, which is creating a strong sense of "the light" being on the viewers side of the fence - she is imprisoned, not us.

The building in the background has a vaguely institutional look, too. wherever she's imprisoned, it's not a holiday camp.

Then there's the lip-ring, the lanky hair, and the expression of the subject. Wherever she is, it's ground her down. She's defeated, just biding her time.

The lighting on the hand is overdone, obviously. And the gadget that she's holding is distracting, as (to a less extent) is whatever it is intruding into the shot at top right. But overall it works well.

When I was experimenting with shots for this challenge, I was going for something similar to this. I was going to draw the focus to a hand alone clinging to a chainlink fence. I like this portrait, and I offer a solid 5.

nice capture, might be better if we could see more of the foreground contours that are just peeking through on the bottom

One of my favorite landscapes. It might be more dramatic if you have the sky take up less space. Right now the horizon is smack in the middle of the photo which seems a little odd.

Pretty good. I would just want a little better focus on the girl. For me that's the trickiest part of "panning", getting what you want in focus.

crop and focus on the hands and glasses. plus the flowers in the foreground are a big distraction.
