Focus On Happiness by labudsComment by ellamay: Greetings from the CC, well congrats on your ribbon to start! I am not sure what I can say to critique your photo to be honest, it is sharp, clever i.e. reversed smiles, well composed. Technically it is very well doen and the voters aptly rewarded you for it. I think in response to your comment, despite having been 'done' your twist of expressions really boosted this shots originality. I also think whether or not we get rewarded for trying a technique that has been done before, they can be very beneficial in learning and that is what this site is about. I have learned a lot from trying things and then when I am ready to take a more 'me' shot I have the technical know how to accomplish it... so do not feel bad about learning things here! Very well done, my favorite part of your shot is the composition of the drops of happy faces, very well placed, excellent work keep shooting and congrats again!! |

James Bond's Assassinationby labudsComment by KarenB: I am sorry that I have hurt your feelings. It was only my intention to encourage photography and discourage the inclination of digital art on this site. After viewing your other photographs, I must tell you that you seem to have a good base in photography that I, personally, would like to see shine here on DPC.
Please accept my apology for being harsh. I will post this as well under your photograph.
Best Regards,
Karen

James Bond's Assassinationby labudsComment by rava100: As a new member to DPC ,I am genuinley amazed at the stardard of pictures that are created within the time limits that are set.
Your picture is visually pleasing and works as a ''piece of art''.
The none photographic elements appear to upset the 'photograph' purists and detract from the quality of your work.I cannot go along with that point of view.As amatuer piccy takers we all have kit that we could only dream of 5 or 10 years ago. How we expand the use of our equipment ,continuely pushing boundries mean that there are no limits on the quality of work that can be produced.
Great work!! |

James Bond's Assassinationby labudsComment by KarenB: Well, I guess you got me... and a bunch of others. I know you stated that 'most people won't be happy to hear this' about adding elements to your photograph that weren't there. I think I feel a bit let down that this is actually closer to digital art than photography. Is it a great image? Yes. Is it a great "Photograph"... ... ... ? |

James Bond's Assassinationby labudsComment by jmsetzler: Congrats on 4th place. This is a nice image. I just feel that it is outside the spirit of of the rules that govern the member's challenges. It is 'legal' by the wording of the rules. It is also against the spirit of 'photograph integrity' as described in the rules. You used photoshop to add an element to this image that was not part of the original photograph. There is no 'painting with light' here so you sorta missed the point of the challenge. You didn't learn to effectively use the technique. :) - Just my opinion, of course... Message edited by author 2004-02-02 15:18:41. |

James Bond's Assassinationby labudsComment by helgihelgi: Very clever, and looks like an '80s Martini ad. I love the composition (how the corner balances with the olive is particularly good), the colors are great, and it is just plain excellent all-round. The more I look the more I like |
