What you sew you shall also ripby littledeepComment by saxon75: This isn't a technically perfect image, but I find it compelling all the same. I love the expression on her face, how it really communicates the feeling of frustration and determination. And I like the way her hands look purposeful. Technique-wise, I think her face should be lit better and the background should either be darker or blurred out with a wider aperture. So, well done on the subject and story, and keep at it with the technique. |

Growby littledeepComment by sfalice: GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB
WHAT! No comments! No fair.
Well at least the Critique Club is here.
:-))
First, it's a pretty flower with lovely color. I think you captured the color very well. Orchids are delicate flowers so, yes, you were on the path to meet the Challenge criteria.
I would suggest that your background is a bit dark (not delicate) and a bit busy for this lovely orchid. Perhaps a lighter color or even a sheet of poster paper behind the orchids would have made your flowers pop nicely. Then, if it was mine, (And I know it isn't) I'd probably have gotten more to the level of the flower. The angle in this picture is slightly above the blossoms - meeting them head-on would have given a bit more impact to their beauty. A different angle would also make it possible to crop in to the main event easier, too.
Summary? great start. A little more practice, experimentation and lots of different angles on your subject. Then your images will be on their way up the DPC ladder.
good luck!

Far more than rubiesby littledeepComment by mark082: I think it's a stretch to call this a "hidden treasure". The bright lighting also washed out slot of the detail in the white elements in the shot. You might even notice that his forehead seamlessly blends into the background. I'm doubt this could be remedied in post processing, but some exposure compensation in the original shot could have brought it down. 3 |

Far more than rubiesby littledeepComment by HarveyG: I see the love in their expressions. The exposure however is just way off. Theres no detail in her dress and I would have emphasised (not cropped) the holding hands to carry the feeling more. |
