 Still most of the marsh area is covered by ice. These Great Blue Herons must search for any spots where there is a bit of an opening to look for their meal. Bright sun and a lot of glare from the ice. Underexposed by 2 stops. Basic adjustments except for some dodging to lighten some of the twigs that were in the frame.

Pretty, especially the reflections and the bird's shadow. Silhouettes are not commonly what I think of as portrait-like so this is probably not going to be my favorite shot in this challenge, but it is a nice image.

What a wonderful shot! I love the extra shadows, I love the grainy look. I'd be tempted to crop out the right and top third of the photo. Simply because the shadow of the egret and the diagonal shadows running through are so interesting. -9-
