Shooting on a mirror like this is quite a pain, but fun, and I liked the results. I should have found a better background. One more uniform and less shiny. I'm pretty happy with the results though. The lighting might be a little harsh for some.

I love the different textures and colors in this one. If I really wanted to win I would reshoot it with some water pouring on it. Guaranteed ribon then :)

This is actually nicely set up. Very colourful with a nice clean background drop. In terms of composition, I would have loved to see the full reflection and taller background above (just by bit).\

Then the light... to diffuse the flash harshness, try placing a tissue paper, Kleenex, or other translucent material (even a thin cloth) over your flash gun. It will still light the subject plenty, but it will make much softer light. Even bounced off the ceiling, the flash can be quite pleasing. If the ceiling is too high, or dark, then sheet of white paper above the flash can bounce back enough light, yet, make it soft.

The composition... this is one is pleasing but quite simple. you can try to set it up with some smaller fruit pieces leading your eye into the image and placing the main fruit pieces at the upper part or side of the image. Try to throw it off balance for even more dramatic effects.

Greetings from Andi via the Critique Club

First Impression: Not the best of the bunch but its nice and colourful

Composition:It looks like a very simple setup but at least you took the time to arrange the fruit on a mirror. Its all a bit too central for me and would have preferred either the entire reflection or non at all

Subject: I like the fact that the circles are implied by the almost round fruit but am guessing most of the voters clipped you a point for dnmc in their opinions

Technical: You mentioned the light was a bit harsh so maybe diffusing the light with some cloth or similar and using a longer exposure might have helped? this would be a good setup for a light tent. Focus is ok but not as sharp as you'd need to score well (the orange has the best focus and lighting for me). Depending on the monitor I view this on the background can look ok however would look much better further away from the subject and not all creased.

Final thoughts: As you mention in your comments there are issues here however, with a little time and thought I'm sure you could reshoot this and make it a much better image (I do think 4.7 was a little harsh mind you).

this photo is sort of boring and uninteresting to me, regardless of the vacant circles. The cloth in the back is weird and the arrangement is odd. 4

Nice set up, the lighting is a bit harsh, and it seems a bit oof or grainy.5

sorry but this just doesn't have as much interest as some of the other shots.

you should have included the reflections in the picture might have made it more fun

The background is kind of distracting, maybe pull the fruit off the backdrop and use a shorter depth of field?
