Single flash on the side bounced off a small reflector, black card (turned out gray here) with a pin sticking out of it. Was hard to make sure I got equal amount of oil on both olives and with my flash running out of juice, so repeats were many.

I had to study your shot and read your description several times before I understood what was happening. It is a very clever photo.

Unfortunately your second olive looks like it is a shadow of the first, which is a shame.. Your first olive is so centered, cropping a little would have helped with the perception.

If this was not an oil challenge I am not sure people would have got that it is in fact olives.

It's very dark, and it's unclear to me what it is. I don't get it.
