I'm pretty sure this meets the challenge, that is fire and ice are opposites (at least the people I talked to thought so). I had a hard time coming up with something that wasn't obvious, so I decided to take an unoriginal idea and make it interesting. I took about 80 shots before I finally quit. I used a glass table with a flash light illuminating the ice (which was frozen water in glass .. taken out). For the fire, which I'm sure people will say I photoshoped I used rubbing alcohol. I spilled it around the ice, set it on fire and started shooting. The main problem I had was focusing on the ice. This proved to be impossible during the flames, so I had to do it prior to that.

Great exposure on the blue flame - a very nice looking abstract as well as for the challenge here. The DOF on the ice is a little strange - it feels like it should be crisp on the far side, not the left side and front.

Great idea, and I know it was a difficult shot to get, but detail/clarity seems to be lacking.

Similar to my photo, these are so hard to do right! I really really like the color of the blue, wish there was more contrast in the ice though. Good job overall...

Another Fire and Ice...And this one has that little something to set it apart from the others...the closeness of the flame, the contrasting colours and depth...love it...well done

The blue flame is nice against the white ice.

details on the ice are lacking, and the flame doesnt look good.

Needs some warm color to dramatize the contrast.

Bottom cropping is too tight, and the cube seems out of focus or underexposed.

very interesting flame effects. ice needs sharper focus, though.

Slightly different from the candles and ice images, but similar in concept and execution.

Not enough dof to make this stand out, though the colours are nice
