I took this shot at one of the U.S. National Parks in our area. I stopped on the way home to see if there was much left for fall color. Wandering around I spotted some deer a couple hundred yards out. As I got closer I noticed one was pretty decent in size. Figured I'd try and get a shot...working my way over slowly I grab a few shots; still not close enough. During my approach I see some people coming from the opposite direction. I'm thinking this deer is going to bolt so I stopped where I was and prepared to get some shots of this guy running across the field. Well, before he bolted (right after I took this photo) the deer was watching this family approach. He saw them way before they saw him. Actually, the dad saw the deer just as they were coming up on the rise and I noticed him stop and tell the kids. You could tell the kids were excited.

I had fun too as I was able to watch this event unfold without being detected and from an elevated vantage point.

That's quite touching, the simplicity of a beautiful story.
Perspective planes work great here in separating the characters while linking them.
I couldn't image a more effective angle than this.

the people elevate this from just another butt shot (I always get them as the animal decides to leave)

Great scene capture. I'm not quite sure why the little boy's face on the right is so orange. I do like the burn that centers on the deer. 7
