the subject matter isn't really important - I was just trying to get a look of an old, creased paper print, like it had traveled around in the back pocket of someone's jeans for years.

took an old lensbaby shot that I had practiced duotoning on and then did this:

used this red leather texture in hard light 100%
then this texture in overlay 68%
then chele's texture in soft light 53%
then this in screen, 65%
levels
curves
Alien Skin color film filter (fuji sensia)
resize, slight usm

edit to add: the leather texture, I wanted the cracks to be more prominent, so I tried, and discovered I could, apply usm and curves (strong contrast preset) to only that layer. [this may not be news to y'all, but it was to me. :)]
Just select the layer and choose your "adjustment" from the edit menu and it applies it just to that layer and no other part of the image. Select USM as you would normally, with that layer selected, and the same applies. In this case, the lower left cracks were already pretty prominent and became blindingly so with the application of USM, so I backtracked, made a feathered selection around those cracks, inverted the selection and then applied the USM, so that only what was in the inverted selection got the extra boost of sharpening.

Wonderful processing. Looks like an old pinhole image.

Very convincing processing work to get the worn, aged look that you were going for. Lots of lovely lines and shadows too.

Yes, I was empowered by that discovery, too - it gives you the chance to change those filters to exactly what you need!

Your work was very successful - love the result.

This looks three dimensional, as though you can actually feel that creased paper. I'd say your experiment worked out very well.

The softness in this shot really works well and love the fine texture with it.

Just like an old worn photo left to wrinkle and discolor. VERY cool.
