 I had a wonderful two weeks this past summer when I rented a sweet lens with extender tube, specifically to shoot the hummingbirds that were flocking to my 6 feeders. This particular capture was shot at 420 mm focal length, hand held, at an extremely close distance, about 6 feet, and she literally filled my frame, completely unafraid. I hated to see her go in mid-September, as she had become a fixture at 'her' feeder. I did a whole lot of tedious selective sharpening to eyes and portions of the chest and tail. I used levels and curves and also selectively smoothed the background and darkened it as well. My arm and hand had gone almost completely numb by the time I finished shooting her while crouched in a corner of my porch.

Nicely captured and focus is bang on. The level adjustment has created some hot spots that does not help the result. Good Luck. 5.

lighting seems a bit harsh and something seems a bit off on the processing/colors but i can't quite place it. nice composition.

Nice and crisp! Filling the frame works well for this image, and the colours in the bird are nicely saturated.
