I wonder if people are sick of flowers yet? lol

These babies were sitting in a bin at Walmart - waiting for me to take them home!

RAW conversion. Brightened and enhanced color tone a smidge in Silkypix.

In PS7, Levels, Brightness/Contrast, Crop, Resize, Sharpen, then Noiseware.

I am sooooooooooooo ready for Spring!

They may call it mellow yellow. It definitely is a mood creating photo. I would sell prints of this, framed. Keep on rolling em in.

Congrats, Michelle! A pretty new yellow thumbnail for your profile page and a nice score to go with it. I just love how your current top 5 are all different colors - it's like looking at a rainbow. :)

You are so on a roll. This is lovely! Flower pics, when well done like this, are always welcome. Everyone seems to love to shoot them, so it stands to reason we like to see them, too!

I gave this a very high rating. I am surprised it did not hit top ten. What I liked about it:
1) Focus and detail amazing
2) Nice composition
3) Since the theme was yellow, there is yellow everywhere!

Michelle, this is beautiful. Definitely not sick of flowers images when they are this lovely to look at. I love the DOF and the bokeh. And it's an interesting choice to focus on the flower that is just opening rather than the fully opened ones I can see in the background. Congratulation on the new entry in your top row.

Wonderful job with the lighting and composition. I totally agree the stem need not be in focus here. It just would've been distracting and lead the eye out of the shot.

I think that people may on occasion be bored with flowers and so the fact that this scored so well is testament to what a great shot it is. WOnderful composition and sharpness (you are doing better with your new macro lens than I am with mine) and you certainly could not say it did not meet the challenge

Congratulations on the outstanding score and finish and well done on getting a new shot for your front page

I don't need it in perfect focus if I don't want it to be. It's art. I can do what I want. Oh and the stem is GREEN. If the stem were YELLOW... well maybe I would have done something different :)

Great subject, wonderful lighting and perfect background. IMO there is a bit of over-sharpening.

Great depth of field and great focus and comp. The only criticism i have is that it might be a bit too 'muddy' in the middle of the tonal range, maybe by bringing in the levels a bit more on the right side it would give it a bit more pop? I'm nitpicking of course, but most people seem to prefer that to platitudes. Great shot though. Looks very summery.

Like the composition and clarity. I can just feel those little petals straining to open.

I think a little more DOF would help the meaning you're trying to portray.
