A garden spider, about 3/4 inch long, that lives in my yard. I am not sure what kind they are, but they are colorful. The shiny white caused a lot of trouble while trying to get a good shot of the critter without blowing out the reflective areas.
Nikon SB 80 flash, mounted on camera, head at 45deg with diffuser, hand held.
I found out that it's an orchard orb weaver.

Thats a hell of an interesting spider in NZ we just get dull black or brown ones!

Isn't he just a riot of colors! His legs are translucent. They look like glass.
