Taken on the Grand Union Canal these are the arms that you use to open the lock gates. Note sure whether people will get it as a double take but fingers crossed

First, always submit what you like. Then rejoice in those who get it lol. And alas, I was one who did not. I musta been a speed voter that day. I was one of your 5's. I remembered thinking that I loved how the item in the foreground was sharp and really caught your attention. Then of course I did not see the one in the background lol. I'm usually unobservant about these things anyway. :) If your intended focus was to be the two locks, I am wondering how a different perspective might have looked? (Maybe so that the front lock is actually lower in the pic.) Also on my screen, the black of the second lock just got lost in the background. Anyway, keep submitting pics you like - what fun would it be if you didn't? :D

Well, Jon - though my Double Take entry was SO BAD - yours was WORSE! :op

I win again! lalala....

But seriously (sic!) I do like this entry and am astonished that it came in so low. I think you're right in saying that people weren't SEEING what it was - though when you read the title, it's pretty obvious. Oh well - onward to the next challenge - hopefully better for both of us.

Cheers, Alicia

Oh dear...4.4714% and 4% shows that I got this one seriously wrong perhaps I should have stuck with a more obvious interpretation of the balancing arms , but I really liked the image I entered and hoped that other people would see the double take more than perhaps they did

Hey strong image buddy, well done - hope you're proud - I love the grass!

Looks like most didn't get the double take, but at the end of the day it's more important that YOU LOVE your image - SMILE!

Fit Challenge Criteria: 1/2
Contrast/Color: 1/2
Composition: 0/2
Photo Quality: 1/2
My Subjective Affinity: 0/2

I can't see two of anything in this shot that presents itself as the subject in this shot. I obviously don't know what I'm looking for, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. The composition doesn't include anything that says "Look at Me!" in it. My eyes wander the photo over and over again until I get frustrated and decide I have had enough. The shadows in the foreground are distracting since they don't belong to anything in the photo.

While you got a great DOF, and I like the detail in the closer arm, this shot does not really have a distinct focal point to which the eye is drawn.

Nice exposure but the composition is a little off and the subject matter is a tad boring.
