Sorry, I submitted a shot of a cat. It's not even my cat. And it's centered.

I don't think I'm cut out for these challenges.

Seems like I've been selecting a lot of cat photos as favorites lately, but I just couldn't resist with this one...:) The lighting and tones are absolutely, fantastically, and stunningly beautiful.

I love how the kitty just pops out from the background. This reminds me of some kind of oldfashioned pic. Is this done by changing the aperture? It seems to me that if I took a pic like this, I could not get this kind of effect where the kitty really stands out, the background is blurred, parts of the grass in the foreground are in focus. Just a really cool pic.

Very clear, very sharp, I am not a cat person but I like this photo.

Yeah, you should maybe stop while you're ahead. :-) What did you do to make it so, so... I can't even think what it's so. It just is. And is is good.

Bah, I like this a lot! It looks like the front of a greeting card. That's not a bad thing, ya know.

No I think you are plenty cut out for these challenges. I like the centered composition. this is a simple and very direct shot and I love the contrast and post processing. I think this is a really cool pet portrait. The only think I would do to improve this would be to slightly darken the shaddows

I saw the thumb and thought," What the hell is she doing?", then I opened it. This is actually really good. Nice use of blur too.

Personally I think it is a good potrait. The textures really pop. The side lighting is a plus.

Hi MK, no apologies for cat photos, please - I love them! Also, I think the centered composition is very, very strong here. In fact, I find this a captivating photo overall. The lighting is perfect IMO. I'm adding this to my faves - see, you are cut out for these challenges!

perfect pet portrait.
he looks mean, but i bet he would like to sit on my lap.

and why do you apologize for a cat picture?
or maybe you are afraid you are getting soft?
I'm looking forward to the baby shot tomorrow :-)

You should apologize to him too, he looks perturbed. :P I like the focus on this - I would suggest cropping out that tiny bit in the foreground (bottom of image) that's blurry to make all of the foreground startlingly sharp in contrast with the background (which will have the added benefit of making the cat just a little less centered). :) This cat is just enough of a tiger to make b&w a good choice - all those contrasty lines are very nice indeed.
