Thanks for the voting and comments. I was not pleased myself about the way the rope hung either. I debated and changed the photo and other photos of the same thing but came up with this version. When I would try and tilt the rope left a couple of degrees then crop I would lose pixels and the image was not as clear. Even in other photos that I took the rope hung the same way and I am going back just to where I took the picture for curiosity to see if the rope hangs that way. For as the sky being hazy it was humid and we were getting a lot of smoke from the Oregon fires.

There used to be a rope swing similar to this across the lake from my home when i was young.. When you would swing out over the water, you HAD to let go or you would come back and hit the tree :) Good shot :) - jmsetzler

Wonderful shot/memory. I would have loved some motion in this shot, but then you'd have "children" in the shot and panned for that. How about this: take the shot just after a person "hit the water" type thing. No people visible, motion and water effects! (All godd stuff!!!) Still this is very nice. 9 Swash

Nice color. Reminds me of so many swimming holes I have been to...wanted some action, tho. Movement on the swing, a splash in the water...? (6) ~mcmurma

Superb… This does it for me. It really evokes fond memories – mostly of being cold and wet, but fond nonetheless :) I can just imagine running full tilt and jumping for all I'm worth at that rope… Ooops – forgot my age for a moment. I can't fault the shot, as I say, it works for me… Thanks for the memory (10)

This is great..maybe a tad too yellow. I wish there were some clothes hanging on the bush to the right to indicate someone is there. Lisa

This is a nice image. Sure wish I had had such a swimming hole available to me in my childhood. Colors are beautiful. The rope is great but unfortunately it is right bang in the middle. It would have been nice to see it pushed out but you may have lost those lovely orange-brown hills in the background. This image seems meant to convey a sense of tranquillity. It doesn't quite do that for me and it is because I sense some "busy-ness" in all the greens of the top branch and all the shrubs. Seems the result from oversharpening?????? 7 Journey

Wonerful shot! A solid 9 if it wasn't so hazy, but you'll have to settle for an 8

This was actually my first idea, and I actually dug a rope (and a tire, for a tire swing) out of the garage, and trudged through the woods along a river to get a shot of it. I just couldn't get an angle I liked, and besides I was getting muddy! You did a nice job of capturing what I was trying for.

Like this one a lot, but the rope really needs to be vertical within the frame. Keep tilting my head when I look at it :)

Probably nothing says childhood more than the old swimming hole. The photo is also very well done, good lighting and compostion... great use of tree branches for framing. 9 BAMartin

I remember a place like this....thanks for bringing it back to me. On the technical side the only thing I'd like to see is the same photo, cropped to where not as much of the sky is in the picture. Other than that.....I like it. (9)

Well congrats, as of right now, so far, I have only one 10 in my basket, and it's you. This photo is absolutely wonderful. The lighting was perfect, angle and frame filling are perfect and the colors are beautiful. Focus is great. Excelent photo and good luck in the challenge.

Nicely balanced nature picture, color-wise. It's very inviting. The title makes perfect sense and does remind me of childhood, but something doesn't work for me about the hanging stick ... a better choice might have been a wet tire swing -- though of course I understand completely that you may not have had the chance to manipulate the environment.

Nice appealing shot that conveys the "childhood" message well. Technically speaking, the river/riverbank cuts the photo in half - but I don't follow the rules either ! lhall
