Challenge: Zen Photography (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
Location: Hraunfossar (Volcano falls), Iceland
Date: Jul 28, 2006
Aperture: f/10
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/3s
Date Uploaded: Jul 28, 2006

Two exposures from the same RAW file combinded to get the sky. I used a polarizer filter to remove most of the reflection on the water, without it the water would have been almost entirely gray-ish white.

Stillness requires a
motion. photography must
contradict itself.

I like the stillness of the water and the detail you have managed to capture but the composition feels a little dull to me (MHO)

An intriguing island in the foreground. Without it the photo would be less interesting.

Okay, first of all that water is significantly gross, and second it needs more color

it's really nice...perhaps if you crouched down a bit and captured a lower perspective it would have really added more impact...love that brooding sky

I think this is a very nice shot, however, to my eye, although the water is calm and still, there is too much going on here that distracts my eye from the calm parts. The rocks are craggy, teh small dirt mound in the middle distracts, as does the grass to the left side of the photo. A nice photo, but just not quite there.

This is a lovely scene. Have you tried b/w? It stands to really shout in duotone. Nice work.
