I hope it's okay to say I'm disappointed. This is the very best a picture of our granddaughter has ever done for me . . . but I had hoped for more. Though the score was never high, I also knew from the discussion thread that this was likely to be a low scoring challenge, so I dared hope. Even now, as I look back at the 10 that beat this, I feel that it should be higher . . . much higher.

I do agree a bit more face would have been good. In retrospect, I think an open book would have been better, too. But we didn't really stage this. She'd been reading in another seat, got up and moved across the aisle and back to this one, sat down, looked at the book a moment and then closed it and sort of slid it aside, and turned and looked out the window. The entire sequence was/is part of what I was trying to convey. Unfortunately, parts of it are "you had to be there".

I agree... it's lovely!

I think the voters wanted a bit more of her face... I know I did. (I didn't vote and just trying to help figure out the unanticipated "low score".)

Well, I have to say that I totally agree with you. This image is exquisite, and was the one I loved most alongside Mary Anne’s winning image. They are both similar to me in beauty and perfect use of light and shadows. I am shocked to see it in a very undeserving 11th place. I added it to my favorites during the challenge and will come back to it often as I try to improve my low key photography.

This is one of the images in this challenge that takes my breath away. I have a personal rule that I don't vote in challenges I've entered (even tho my score is deservingly sucking), but this is one of two that I've seen that both deserve votes of 20 on a 1 to 10 scale! I hope you both win the blue and red ribbons! I will refer back to this image often as I try to get better at low key photography. It's absolutely perfect!
