anyone else ever have a shoot that goes on and on and you cannot even get a usable image? I had 13 grandkids and after finally getting them organized, just couldn't get them all to keep an attention span more than 3 seconds.

This one was tough.
But this one was darn near impossible!
Both images are "composites". I used heads/bodies from multiple exposures in order to get them all looking in the same general direction at the same time and with their eyes open and a pleasant expression.
But ... the first image has all of the grown-ups in the image. That one was fairly easy because the grown-ups controlled the kids. (of course, the hard part is then getting the grown-ups to look at the camera instead of the kids!)
The second image, on the other hand, had all of the grown-ups standing behind me, each one yelling (loudly!) at their own kid/kids. I finally sent all of the parents out of the room except one, and I told her to stand right next to me so that the kids would be looking in my general direction.

Put a television set in the studio, and all eyes will be glued to it. Watch a room full of family with the tv on some time and you will see what I am talking about.

As shot. not bad considering the age and quantity of kids.
Get a dog's squeaky toy and after a few shots to see how it's going, break out the squeaky toy. It gets the kids attention and will make people laugh giving you good, natural smiles.
