How does it feel to hear this? I have seen some comments on challenge entries, that are simply offending. If a particular photograph does not meet the challenge (or at least if the commentator feels so), it does not mean that the photographer intended to waste others time.
Do we have to be really rude, to teach others?

The best thing you can do is ignore the comment. Plenty of people make silly comments, even on the winning shots, so don't even let it take up your time. Life is too short.

Take it from who it comes. Just don't get dragged down to that level and don't generalise by thinking this is who we at DPC are. We have those blunt, thick skinned individuals amongst us, but they do not represent the majority. Just move on, let them be who they are.

Was it Chit Rabbinton who left the offensive coment? :)

have to agree with the rest of the posters. sure, you can read the comments (and probably learn a thing or two) BUT you should never be bugged down by anyone. at the end of the day it is the PHOTOGRAPHER who truly understand his photo.

keep shooting!!

Shrug it off, get over it and pity the poster/commenter if you can muster the energy.

They're just frustrated and instead of doing something to help themselves they try to make others feel miserable - that's my theory anyway...

What counts is that YOU HAVE FUN. Don't let anyone ruin that. Don't take stuff personally that wasn't meant personally.

A person who writes "Don't waste your time" basically says: "I could care less about that photo", but out of a twisted sense of "courtesy" they post insulting comments instead of keeping their "mouth" shut.

Peace!

Oh, and when stuff gets too offensive, report the commenter to the site council, that's what they're here for. Don't suffer silently ;-)

After reading this thread, I have come to the conclusion that I have wasted my time, and the ice in my cocktail has melted because of it.

Damn it, now I have to chug this watered down drink, and make a fresh one.

Oh well...it's for the art.

Some people just can't help but let their IQ shine through with commentaries such as this. Don't let it get you down.

OMG I've been sayin' this for the past year everytime I see a thread like this! Someone's actually been listening? I actually take humour in the small minded commentors. It's them not me that are messed up!

Is the comment simply something like, "DNMC, there's no rain."? If so, you can join the growing movement to have this guy banned from the site, he's so cruel & rude.

When considering comments made, take into account that it's one person's opinion. You can choose how much "weight" that opinion carries.
When we bash people in the public forums for comments made, we discourage commenting. When we ask for comments from a broad group, we must be prepared to take the bad with the good.
If, however, the comment violates the site ToS (Terms of Service) then it should be reported to the SC. The comment referred to by the OP does not violate ToS, BTW.

I think some people have a one track mind and find it hard to go off track. I got some of those on my rain entry. Go figure. :-/

Good luck in the challenge.
