I just made my first run through of this submissions in this challenge - whew, a lot of entries. There are some very good submissions too! A couple things I noticed, there are a lot a pictures of eyes - people eyes, dog eyes, cat eyes, lizard eyes - eyes, eyes, eyes, everywhere - not that there is anything wrong with that, there are some very good ones, and some not so good ones. Also, a lot of electronics such as circuit boards, once again, some good, some not so good.
All in all, it was refreshing not to see so many photos of bugs for a change.
Edit to add -
I also noticed that there seems to be some different interpretations of what is macro or extreme close-up. I good number of entries I couldn't put into either of those catagories.

: ) My subject didn't make your list. Mine is a macro in the sense that if you were to print it out at the "native size" the printed image would be somewhat larger than the original object itself.

Wow just got my 20% done, all 108 pictures. I will continue to vote for all of them but I will need a few goes at it.
11/10/2004 02:41:43 AM · #5
Hi I just finished voting all of them! Macro close up for was not met by some pics, however I voted more on whether I liked the pic, trying to keep my average vote for an average pic at a 5, then all good ones over a 5. I dont see much point in giving under a 4, a pic would have to be pretty bad to be under a 4.

good luck everyone :)

Lisa
p.s. my entry yet again is a four point something :)

Mine too Lisa....started out positively with 5.8..... but slip, slding away down to the 4's.

Have started voting but will take a few days as on dial up here. A lot of very good entries to look at.

Gradually sliding as usual - from a healthy 9.196 to a gloomy 8.437

I was going to remove it before the deadline but forgot. I am expecting a few "this isn't a macro" comments, that's the up-side. :)

I have tried something that now I might regret... It is a Macro but it doesn't look like... I have concetrated more on the composition and lightning, colors... My photo is at 4.6 now and softly rising.. but I think I will not pass the 5.

I had other ideeas, but then I canged onto this... no comment right now... but hope to get some... to see how people got my pic :)

Oy. Hopefully it goes up some more.

Not that I'm complaining, anything over 5 is good for me, just that I've got a 5.45 pulling in Calendar and I thought my Macro image was better by a Sunday's Travel.

Funny because my macro is at 4.5333 and my calender entry is at 4.5370. I must say I'm a bit dissapointed, but all you great photographers wouldn't look so great if people like me didn't enter the challenges :-D

I just need to set a whole day aside and go photograph the crap out of some stuff -- come back and get at least a 6 -- that is my goal before the new year!!!

...well, photographing the crap out of some stuff probably won't garner you a 6... in fact, I haven't seen a photo of crap that came out of ANYTHING that got much more than a 4... ;o)

hehehe seriously, good luck in your photographic endeavors! :o)
