Check it out. I am not an expert so I decided to do a day to day diary thing on my web site about the D70. Just got it and messing with it. Updates frequently for the next few days!

Excuse my english - I am Greek!

Let me know what you think. It's not intended as a review but purely I am opening my brain to the outside that's all. Think of buying one? Check it out!

Don't have time to read it all yet, but looks interesting.

Fixed the link for you here.

Nice work, I've been using a Sony Cybershot P10 for about a year now and i think it is a great camera but because i got so into photography with it, naturally, i want to upgrade to a DSLR. I have a Canon 10D on order and reading your photo diary has really helped me understand what to expect from my upgrade. Its good to hear it from someone who hasn't had experience with a DSLR before.

Nice one, good luck with the camera, hope to see you win some ribbons! ;)

I went through your diary/blog--very nicely done. Shots look very clear and as you say, don't seem noisy. I wasn't aware the D70 was limited to ISO 200!

I am in the same boat you were, I want to upgrade my G2, but I want everything in one small package. Thus, I am considering the Nikon 8700 and the Canon Pro 1.

Two things leave me in turmoil. I want
1) a small enough camera that I can take on my bike rides
2) low noise, even in high ISO. Your's looks good, the Canon 300 looks fantastic. The Pro 1 looks awful, and the 8700 looks bad, but better than the Canon Pro 1
3) Not to fool around having to clean dust off of my sensor

I wish Canon would put out a new Pro 1 with a CMOS sensor! That would sell me.

Kalispera! We need more greeks around here. I was looking at your profile info, and my great-grandfather's original name was actually Papadopoulos (he was from Rhodos). When he immigrated to America, his name was changed to a more "Americanized" name by the immigration officials. We might be distant cousins!

Glad to see your enjoying the D70, I just bought the 300D a few weeks ago and am really enjoying it as well.

It's a small world out there. I very much doubt it we are cousins since the papadopoulos name in Greece is like bullshit from Tony Blair - loads!

I am from Corfu by the way. Glad you enjoyed the read!

I think the next step would be a dslr. Don't waste your money on another prosumer camera. My Minolta dimage 7i took some fantastic shots as you can see on my site but the next step has to be a dslr. Trust me you will love it. Ok they are bigger, bulkier and need some big bags for all the kit but the enjoyment you get is fantastic. Both 300D and D70 are fantastic cameras. The ISO 100 of canon is simply stunning. I have seen a lot of photos. The D70 is a great camera too... just ask around you will get the same opinion as me
