well you know, I didn't enter this week's challenges, but voted on them all...this group of images really puzzled me...I was trying to figure out how on earth most of these fit into this challenge...they were mostly disappointing...sorry folks, just telling the truth

Totally agree with you Enzo, as the images are way below par when it comes to triangulars.....

I did not enter but have done a 100% vote.....

hotpasta & sherpet - I think most of us have gone with the ...IMPLIED ... in the

Compose a photo using an implied triangle

Clearly it's not working for many people - I get that mine isn't a triangle per se, but it's the IMPLIED that I went with - GRIN!

05/07/2008 07:44:47 AM · #31
Sorry to dissagree with you, but I think most photos I have reviewed to date in the challenge appear to be a picture of a triangle or set of trianges rather than using triangular composition. Not trying to get into the head of Enzo or Shez, but I think that is what is confusing us voters...

This is a very hard prompt.....

to stay true to the prompt, and shoot anything in an implied manner while getting everyone else to see that same implication is near impossible.

but guess what, this isnt called DPCakewalk.com

I am however extremely happy that I avoided this challenge like the plague.

Edit ^ remember, the implied triangles must give attention to the subject

this is only partially about triangles, there still must be a dominant main subject

I think this is a challenge where the cliche "damned if you do and damned if you don't" applies. My own entry was intentionally an experiment in obviousness. Lower than I expected, but not really surprised.

Yup...I really think I have a chance. I was expecting a low score...and am fine with it. It's tricky with the implied, you as the photographer may have visualised the triangle but it just may not be there for others...

Still thought it would be fun to submit though...

I have to say it is a tough challenge. If you implie it, you have to look for it, so i am sure they are getting scored lower. If it is obvious you are getting scored lower as it is right in your face.

So as Yos said, we are allllllllllll damned!!!!!!!!

I entered the implied triangle, guess I should have entered the obvious one!

Man, that's a lot of criteria, especially considering you aren't even voting! Anyway, I agree the challenge concept was supposed to be about classic triangular composition, but that doesn't necessarily mean that real triangles aren't allowed. I haven't looked at the entries yet, but for now I'm keeping an open mind.

Yup Definitiely a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation as mentioned by yospiff... Those looking for the implied will score low on the the obvious and vice versa...

I went for implied crowd...but alas, I fear they don't see it either...doubly damned...sniff sniff...

I'm climbing though! See?!?!
