Hi, I am shooting an environmental portrait on Monday and I am in need of an assistant. I have my own equipment (Profoto Acute 2R 2400, 3 heads, etc) and I shoot with a 5D. We may not have a lot of time with the subjects so I need someone that is proficient with studio lighting that can help me set up the lighting quickly and move it to another room if necessary. I have a budget for an assistant, so if you’re around let me know.

Thanks, Lori

Photojournalist

We need a versatile, aggressive photojournalist willing to work on journalism’s bleeding edge. We are a 20,000 daily with a fully integrated online operation in the Pocono Mountains.

We are looking for a talented photographer who can do it all and do it with alacrity: great stills from feature, sports, and news shoots and solid, creative audio slide shows. Also, we want someone who can pick up our new Canon GL-2, shoot gripping video, and edit it on perpetual deadline on a new Mac G-5 with dual 23-inch monitors.

We’re a Nikon shop and we’ll hand you a D2Hs, 17-55, 70-200, a couple of strobes and pocket wizards. We share a 300 and a 200-400 f.4. We also have Dell laptops and a pretty nice little studio.

The Poconos is growing like crazy and we have more than our share of spot news.

Please send resume and references, along with your stills, and slide shows and video (on disk or links) to: David Kidwell, Visual Editor Pocono Mountains Media Group 511 Lenox Street, Stroudsburg, Pa. 18360 dkidwell@poconorecord.com

Are you interested in leading a double life?

If so, you may be just the person we are looking for. The Williston Herald in Williston, North Dakota is looking to fill a position that will be half photographer, half features writer.

We want a photographer with an eye for taking meaningful photos who can compose a story with their lens.

Photographers for the Williston Herald cover a little bit of everything. Can you find unique new ways to shoot that same old donation photo in the afternoon, then grab your camera and run out the door to shoot a fire late that night, only to hop in with a reporter to take shots to go with their story.

Some weekend and evening work is required, with a likely Tuesday through Saturday schedule.

We are also looking for a features writer who can capture that “special something” in anyone. You must truly believe that every person has a great story to tell, and be hungry to uncover it.

Your skill set should include knowledge of AP style, and the ability to write in tight, grammatically correct prose. Versatility is also a must. You should take great pride in both your photography and writing, but be willing to learn and be edited. Our newsroom is a close-knit team of eight, so it will be important that you can fit in and be a part of the team.

The Williston Herald is an award-winning daily in northwestern North Dakota. We live in a beautiful part of the country with a refreshingly low cost of living.

This position offers excellent benefits including paid vacation, 401k, co-pay health insurance and continuing education. Our paper is part of the Wick Communications family of newspapers.

Experience is preferred, but an energetic recent grad with a creative eye will certainly be considered. Pay will depend on experience.

Send resumes ATTN: Crysta Parkinson, Managing Editor, to news@willistonherald.com or mail to P.O. Box 1447, Williston, ND 58802.

The Daily Star, an 11,000 circulation six-day afternoon paper in Hammond, La., focuses on community news, but don’t translate that as meaning “boring.” Hammond, a wildly growing university town, was an exciting place for journalists before Katrina and is even more so now.

We’ve got hard-breaking news like crime scenes and entertainment news like movies filmed in our beautiful swamps and local native Britney Spears. Action sports from prep to pro is a big part of the job. We need a strong shooter who is a team player and thinks visually, not just for the front page but also for our developing web site, //www.hammondstar.com.

Ability to ask questions, take notes and compose information with accuracy and decent grammar will be expected. The job involves some reporting, especially with breaking news where the photographer may be the only staffer on the scene. Skills in graphics and HTML will be a plus. If you’re looking to build a well-rounded portfolio in a fast-paced environment,
send resume, letter and photo samples to Executive Editor Lillian Mirando at editor@hammondstar.com, or 725 S. Morrison Blvd., Hammond, LA 70403.

About National Football League
The National Football League (NFL) is the largest and most prestigious professional American football league, consisting of thirty-two teams from American cities and regions.

The league's teams are divided into two conferences: the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC).

Each conference is then further divided into four divisions consisting of four teams each, labeled North, South, East, and West.

During the league's regular season, each team plays sixteen games over a seventeen-week period, generally from September to December. At the end of each regular season, six teams from each conference play in the NFL playoffs, a twelve-team single-elimination tournament that culminates with the NFL championship, the Super Bowl.

This game is held at a pre-selected site which is usually a city that hosts an NFL team. One week later, selected all-star players from both the AFC and NFC meet in the Pro Bowl, currently held in Honolulu, Hawaii.
