Good afternoon. I'm hoping someone here can help out. My friend asked me to take a look at her camera since I have a penchant for fixing various electronic items. Anyways, it's a Panasonic Lumix FX01. Initially, it wasn't powering up at all. I tested the battery and got 3.9 volts so that was good. I removed all the outer screws and opened it up as much as I felt comfortable without breaking anything (stupid plastic parts).

Once it was open, I popped the battery back in and it turned on ... briefly. After futzing with it some more it would stay on in "review" mode, but not in any of the shooting modes. Which made me think it was the battery again. Not enough power to operate the optics. Another test with the multimeter showed the battery was still fully charged.

I put it all back together and now it'll power up so long as I have it switched ON and remove/reinstall the battery. If I simply slide the power switch ON, nothing happens. It's completely baffling me, though.

Any ideas? Thanks to anyone who reads all this :)
