Are the comments I give that helpfull?, I comment from my view point. Do they provide an Insight or are they patronising? just a thought

You always give helpful comments. You seem to really study the photograph rather then just breifly glance at it. Thanks.

I've only received one comment from you. However, I LOVED IT!! So, from my point of view, no matter if it's a sentence or a single word, KEEP'EM COMING!!!!

"this would be a dreary scene during the day, but the night has bought it alive with a vengeance, apart from being a "Presbyterian shot " which I forgive a 10 for having the eye and the forsight to shoot at night."

Yep, very helpful indeed. I like your scoring better than the comments... just kidding =)
Thank you.

Hi Nick,

I think the majority of your comments are worthwhile, as on the photographs you like you usually do state what exactly it is you liked about the photograph. This kind of feedback does help the photographer to understand what they are doing right, and what they are communicating to the viewer. I did notice, though that nearly all of your comments (at least your recent ones) are on photographs that you scored an 8 or higher.

If you're looking to challenge yourself, try offering some feedback on some of the entries you scored lower. It takes a lot of skill to clearly and tactfully articulate what it is you don't like about a photograph, or why it doesn't speak to you as well as some of the others. While you're probably aware that some users rail against this (and you may get the occasional angry PM), the overwhelming majority appreciate well thought out and construcive feedback, and you'll be helping the photographers that need it most. Also, by challenging yourself to comment on these entries, you'll probably find that you reap benefits in your own photography as well.

In any case, please keep up the commenting -- you're doing a great job with it!

Nick,

Your comments have always been helpful. Never patronizing. I like it when you find something in the photo that you like, and I also like you're suggestions for improvement...they're thoughtful and diplomatic. Keep 'em coming...I love 'em! : )

Comment by kiwinick:
the hot spot detracts from a very nice image,. BTW if you paint the metal with Milk it helps soften the hot spots. 7

Nick - you have commented on mine twice (including a current challenge), one positive and one constructive criticism. I liked the positive one but found the constructive critism one the most helpful. Thanks.
