I'm looking at getting a midrange zoom lens, does anyone use either of these and which one you you all recommend.

Checked out the Tamron, didn't like it - AF seemed very slow. I got the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 EX instead :)

Mazer,

From strictly the numbers, I would opt for the Sigma. Reasons are the wider 24mm and the faster f2.8.

I do not know how the 2 lenses compare to each other "quailty" wise, but if the Sigma is an Ex series, then it should serve you well.

I ordered the Canon EF 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM from B&H Photo on Tuesday and it just arrived this afternoon. I also got a Heliopan SH-PMC UV filter for protection.

I ripped open the box, and popped it on the camera. Wow! Just the feel of it over the kit lens is amazing. Focus is quick & silent and the zoom is smooth. I haven't needed to use the IS yet, so I can't comment on that.

I made a quick page with some photos on it. Here are a few photos I took this evening with the 28-135 IS.
