My Sweetieby
EGoobieComment by alanfreed: Hello there!
I have tried to make a habit out of leaving a super-extensive comment for "milestone" votes of mine. Turns out, your shot is the 200,000th vote I have cast at DPC! So... for what it's worth, here is my super-extensive comment :)
First, the positives. I can see that you used a flash to brighten up the horse's face. That looks like it helped to bring out the detail in the fur a bit. I wonder what a bigger source of light, like a reflector, would have done here.
I like the various colors in here. The greens stand out nicely behind the horse... and the puffy gray clouds add a touch of contrast to the white clouds in the sky.
Overall I think the composition is good... I might have chopped out just a little more of the sky, though.
As for nitpicky things... I probably would have cloned out the tiny little bird above his back -- it looks like a dust speck (maybe it is a dust speck!). I would have been tempted to clone out the hot sot on his forehead, too.
I guess my biggest nitpick would be that it's a little plain, and maybe it doesn't really "tell a story." With the "my sweetie" title, maybe it would have been cool to see you on the horse. That would be a little hard to capture as a self-portrait, but I think it would have been cool to see your affection for him/her :)
Anyway... overall a nice job -- hopefully this is the most extensive comment you'll get during this challenge, or I'll feel like a goober. I gave it a 6. Good luck in the challenge!
