I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: A nice street scene to capture here and I admire your eye to have seen and captured it. The two characters complement each other very well.
Critical stuff: There is quite a lot here which makes the image sub-optimal (at least to my eyes): The cluttered background - the cars kill the image; making this a square crop, cropping left of the Peugeot would have made the image a lot better. The image needs to be brighter, a little more contrast with some highlight recovery done afterwards to prevent subsequent blowing of highlights. The rectangular vignette is horrible - far too prominent; if you are going to use them, I think elliptical are far more effective and smoother transitions than this are required for them to remain subtle.
Overall: A nearly image, but too much conflicts with my view of how such an image should be edited. (A 5, but could be a lot more). |
