Photographer’s Notes
Six months ago, I found this stick, which had floated ashore near here. It’s too small to be called driftwood, and “driftstick” doesn’t seem right either. I left it where I found it, but it haunted me. Again a few months ago, I found the stick.

I picked it up and this time and decided I would see if there is a photo hiding in my stick somewhere. My wife wants to use it for the handle of a purse she’s designing. So when I let it sit on the counter, or the corner of my desk … I had to be continually watchful over it. For months I’ve looked at it in different lighting, from different angles, under varying moods.

For 30 days, more or less, I’ll live on the lakeshore where I’ve lived for the past 6 years; where I found my stick. Today, I realize I’m running out of time. I’ve been sick for a while now – it colors my mood. I won’t be living here much longer. If I’m going to memorialize my stick, now is the time. If not now, when? I’ll miss living here.

I love this photo and title, and your photographer's comments as well. I'm sorry to hear you have been sick. Feel better soon and keep up the good work (now let your wife make the purse). :-)

Shame on you... for thinking outside the box and being uniquely creative... you should know better then to allow yourself to stray into such imaginative channels. Ten lashes for you for displaying your unwitting genius!!

Jo ;-))

Deserved to place much higher. Texture and lines respond well to your treatment with light, providing a lot for the eye to see. Thanks for posting the back story.

Sorry, finding this a little uninteresting as subject material. On a technical note, the focal plane is really narrow with only the lower central area being sharply focused.
