Fiddling around whith the camera's macro just to check how close it could go out came this one.

Ligthning is just my desk's low power fluorescent lamp. Actually don't know where the golden tone came from, the coin is silver colored and sligthly golden in the outer ring. The background itself was a piece of... white paper!

Editing: Sligth rotation, crop, resize and border added, Neatimage and USM.

Thank you to everyone who spent his time comenting on the pic. You have been useful indeed!

Maybe you cannot call it a wheel, but haven't you seen any of these rolling down to its hidden place?. I wasn't either trying to start a discussion about if it's euro, dollar or whichever currency you happen to use, I just borrowed from Cabaret's song "Money makes the world..."

On the other hand, you cannot lay the blame on me about being unoriginal just because it's a coin. Sure, there are lots of nickes and dimes around but... it's the first EURO coin portrait here at DPC, AFAIK!! :-DDD

I think wheels should have a point of axis. Don't see one here. I get the metaphor, and the picture is well composed/framed. The coin looks a little soft though. I especially like the gradient of brown across the image.

This is a very good idea, also the light conditions are working, but the composition does not ... I think I would have dead centered this one. I have to admit difficult decision. Yours, Jan

I am not sure I would call it a wheel, but it could spin, so I will go with it. I like the blending of the tones very much. A less used coin might of worked better, but I am not sure.

I think it's the dollar actually... but still..........
nice title, nice macro shot; very nice colours!

Nice color and lighting. The background breaks up a bit on my monitor. I won't dun you for it being a coin, but I do take exception to the title--just don't think the Euro has yet gained the status of the economic force you imply. Still, it's a nice shot. If I'd chosen this subject for the competition, I would have stood it on edge--but that's my vision, not yours.....

Great picture and I like the way your title tries to tie in your picture with the challenge, but it doesn't really fit the "Wheel" challenge. But I will give you 5 because this is a great picture.

The fact that it's a used coin, and not a mint condition proof makes the shot

Yes, creative, original, and well done (but it sure looks like it has been cooked in PS); otherwise, you did a nice job with the lighting for this one.
