Thanx for all the nice comments.
This tiny snail was going up one of our trees and it was the first shot I took of it. I then tried to place it better, but it feelt down in the grass and I couldn't find it again.
Later I collected some of these baby snail and tried to do a indoor shoot of one climbing allong some grass, but it didn't work: they were just too fast!!
That's true: they came only out at low light conditions and then they moved to fast for the slow shutter speed. In bright light they tend to stay in the house.
So I gave up and submitted the first shot, knowing that it had some focus problems.

I think I might have cropped a bit more off the top of the frame. Very nice lighting here though, and good focus and DOF.

If only the head could've been a little more focused. THis is a cute photo. I can't say I've seen but a snail or two on land in the wild. The DOF on this pic is just a pinch too shallow. I think the top of the photo isn't really adding anything either.

Too bad the eyeballs are a bit out of focus...

either shooting closer to the subject, or cropping to eliminate the top section of this photo, I feel, would give it more impact.. on the other hand it does show how small he is in his world. a bit more dof would also be helpful. Just thoughts.

Good image. The top of the photo is a little out of focus though.

this is an image that was composed very well, the snail is clear and in focus accenting the green plant that it resides on. good work

It almost looks as if the snail is floating in mid-air. Lovely DOF. Maybe the focus is too much in the front...? - 7

the depth of field could be a little bit deeper to make the bug pop out more the focus seems to bee on the moss at the bottom of the photo. other than that it is a great compostion.

I think the tight depth of field hurts this one a bit. The snail has a lovely moist look to it, and it stands out well on the green background. Composition is great, but the out of focus area doesn't quite work for me. Still, a very good shot, well done.

although the head of the snail isn't that sharp, it's a nice pic. well done!

This is a very good photo, the greens are fully saturated and together with the snail and all that transparent stuff (yuk!) make for an excellent image. The DOF is very good and so is the composition, choice! But the border! The green in your border clashes with the rest of the image.

i would have moved closer in to the subject and maybe changed the camera angle a bit to get rid of the bright reflection that has overexposed the detail on the shell

How did the snail get out on that plant? I see them on the sidewalks and on the ground all the time, but that's an awfully small leaf he's treading. There are a few little overexposed spots on the shell.

Excellent shot! I really like the deep rich color; shallow DOF and receding focus works very well. One minor suggestion would be to work to eliminate the glare off the shell. --9

I find the border distracting. And there's a focus problem, but the green saturation is good. Did the snal really crawl up there?

that unfocused section is a little distracting and annoying. did you do that on purpose or is that just as a result of the macro?

I heard he was due for lunch at Brasserie Bofinger and didn't want to be late.
