This is a band picture for a local South Florida band. I took the picture with a wide angle lens attached to my camera. The correct way to use is it is to set your camera zoom through it. I discovered that when I leave it wide open I get this cool fish bowl effect an almost 180 degree field of view. Once I had my picture I cropped it down so you only see the curves on the left and right, I then used Levels to brighten the picture and then I added some contrast.

Well a few people didn't like the idea that it was an advertisement. Oh well, it was and it wasn't. I would have had a gazillion questions if I just left "Sidblu" so I figured I'd just put the whole url. My description explains the fish eye effect.

I gave it a ten because I have fisheye envy

Nice framing

Awesome fisheye effect. The colours and contrast are really nice too.

Great use of a barrel distortion effect. I like the colors (you do know that blue and yellow are perfect compliments don't you?) and all the studio atmoshpere. One of my four 10's this week.

i like this shot. it's got good colors and great framing. the players in action are captured really well, too. i could definitely see this in a cd layout.

Fish bowl. I like.

Nice fisheye effect. A few little nits: Window behind lead guitar way tooo harsh; somewhat yellow tint all over; poor light on both guitarists; maybe guitarists are a bit too close to the edge (notice the lead guitar's head is missing, is that a Les Paul?); misc. grip about the framing, but there's really nothing you could do about it.
Photo 9 Creativity 10 ++ People 10 (although I really, really like this shot, I have to give the final score -1 because of downsides to the additional lens, sorry) total 9

The fish-eye effect used is cool I guess, but now with the black borders. I can't imagine that a lens did this -- it looks like a mirror. I'd suggested getting an actual fish-eye lens. Also your tones seem washde out, I think of better source of lighting would've allowed more options.

Looks like a cover of an album. What is it taken through? The white balance is obviously off, but it does give a certain mood, and the contrast is way up. I don't mind the undetailed shadows as much as that blown out white something on the right side of the frame.

Fisheye lenses are just SO cool. Got to get me one!

Creative shot. I like it!

The shot is very cool and certainly worthy of cd art. If only you weren't spamming us with the title..
05/28/2002 02:00:00 PM
Interesting!

Why does this make me think of "Its all been done before"?
05/28/2002 11:13:00 AM
looks like an album cover. nice perspective
05/28/2002 04:58:00 AM
Interesting... I like the fisheye lens look on this one.. Is this shot from a mirror?
05/28/2002 12:54:00 AM
Nice effect. Is that a convex mirror? Portal window? Fisheye?
05/27/2002 09:01:00 PM
I wish I had a fish...

Looks like the inside of CD cover.

Fisheye, peep hole, mirror? Whatever, I like this. Nice job.
05/27/2002 01:58:00 PM
the fisheye keyhole is obviously what makes this unique. but the overall placement of the band members seems very well thought out. high marks.
05/27/2002 09:24:00 AM
yeah great an advertisement.
05/27/2002 08:43:00 AM
Great for the band-promo contest.
05/27/2002 07:57:00 AM
very interesting to view.
05/27/2002 12:21:00 AM
Very cool angle. Is this a reflection? I'd say no, since the Elvis poster in the top left isn't reversed. If not, I'd like to know how you got this effect. It's a good band shot, but the lighting could be better, and the colors are a bit bland (then again, they seem to all be playing black instruments) nice job

if it werent for the publicity....
