ok so in responce to comments i've got some answers.-

it is an "extreem" macro of my bedroom door's wood grain.....the door is solid Douglas Fur and has 1 litle flaw which just so happens to be the knot off the bottom of the largest W marking (it just had to be in the shot...but what ever).

the wood looks unusaly red since it has been stained with a redish color stain....very pretty in full view but throws u when u see it up close as in this shot.

ppl. mentioned that the lighting was a bit flat or really flat this is true it was lite by the built in flash on the d70 (it goes with out saying that it is not a very good flash and produces this flat look on almost every shot).

that is about all the explinations i can give beyond that i just wanted to submit something....also it was shot in raw. but nothing was really done to it by way of aulterations in color contrast etc.

thanx for the comments and votes

(note i stand corrected the door isn't oke it is douglas fur)

This shot combines the letter and the actual object in which the letter is found, a double layer of value and among the few in the challenge which do so. Nice entry. The lighting seems a bit flat, hard to know where it's coming from, what time of day, etc. What kind of wood? Look forward to reading your description.

Nice sharp picture and fun "w's," but it's a little plain.

I think this would look better in B&W with some contrast adjustment to bring out the W
