I'll be contrary and say it absolutely does help the image. Her lack of focus emphasizes distance and history between them.

A 5.2 on this is just simply tragic. Deserving of way higher than that.

Interesting take on the challenge. I hope it's doing well, cause I really like this. Love the composition and the stare. The processing with the blue/purple toning is gorgeous/

Did you try B&W? The old faded film print look works well, but i would have at least tried the B&W option.
