Pileated woodpeckers are common in my neighborhood, but usually very shy. This one started hammering away less than 15ft behind me as I was assembling a lawnmower in my driveway, and it stuck around long enough for me to get my gear.

Nothing unusual on the processing– white balance, levels, USM, color adjustments and a vignette around the edge.

I am so glad you got this shot! I have a male and female in my woods, I get glances at them and hear them do that crazy woody woodpecker call, but I've yet to get close enough to see much less photograph one! Thanks for this!!!! Congrats on the high score (YA TURD) LOL
