These are some picture of my daughter on her 1st birthday. I set her on some wrapping paper and put the cake in front of her. She didn't waste any time digging into it. The lighting come from my most popular light, the front window in my living room with no flash. I do have a favorite, but was wanting to get your opinion. Which one do you like and do you see something I could have done differently? Don't be shy, let me have it! I need all the critiques I can get.
Thanks Sonja

I like the "cake-series" most:)
Especially 8 and 9 are great!
She really has fun and it shows.

While I like that you did chose B&W for these pictures, to me the contrast is a little low. Enhancing it will make them more vivid, a term appropriate for your little daughter!

Great pictures Sonja! Love them all, but if i had to pick a favorite i would pick 1 or 4. Pictures 5, 8, and 9 could be a little brighter but they are all fantastic pictures.

WOW!

My favourite is number 4 - no question - it's just a great capture of exhuberance and it's well composed. It does seem either incorrectly exposed or over processed - the whites are quite blown out.

I also like 1/5 and 3 though the reflections shapes in her eyes in 1/5 detract from the success of the shot for me.

Number 2 could do with some strong cropping at left and bottom to improve the balance and composition.

The cake shots are also lovely!

All in all a fabulous record of a special occasion in the life of a very attractive child. You must be very proud both of your daughter and of the photographs!

I just realised after posting the above that this thread (and the beautiful baby and photos) are yours!
Together with your recent entry into the free study of you older daughter I think this safely proves your skill in relaxed and beautiful portraits of children.

Thanks all for your very kind comments and critiques.

My favorite one is #4 because of her exspression. She was so happy when she was done eating the cake that she looked up and gave us a big smile as if to say thank you and that is when I took #4 picture. I am glad that I am not the only one who thinks some are to dark or to light. It is hard to decide how dark or light they should be when I am messing with so many photos. They all look the same after awhile.

Kavey, Thank you for your sweet comment. It sure made my day. :)
