Hey I was looking for some software that I could use to control my Canon via the usb cord. I can't seem to find any does anyone know of such a software preferably Mac compatible.

If you still have the CD's from your camera, (you should have 2), has the program. I don't know about Mac, but it works in Windows.

Is there a way to do it without the USB or use a remote or bluetooth or wireless on a network somehow? USB cords are pretty short. (At least all of mine are...)

Does your camera have bluetooth or wireless? Didn't think so. ;-)

I believe the new LR3 beta has some functionality for that... not sure if it needs the canon software or not...... On my list to play around with.

One day soon I hope. There's a reason why they're short, the signals can't travel too far on their own so the cables are kept short for better performance. Have you looked into an extension with a repeater ( sort of a booster ) for your cables? I did and I didn't buy them because of the price but I checked them at a notoriously high priced store.

I've been looking at longer USB cables myself, and have found 15-16ft long "Active" USB cables to run around $35-$40. Saw some at Tiger Direct store yesterday for $37.95. We did think that seemed a somewhat high price for a usb cable, but then again, I really need the extension, so I guess is ends up just being a matter of how bad you want/need one.
