I know very little about photography and joined this site in hopes to gain a little knowledge on capturing quality images with my camera. I need to get away from the auto setting on my camera and learn what it can do. I have a Cannon Power Shot S5IS with a Cannon Speedlite 430EX Flash. I would appreciate any advice you would like to give me.

Hi David! Welcome!
Like they have been telling me... just get out there and shoot, do some challenges, post some images for critique, and most of all have fun!

I agree with JokersSoul
Post some photos of yours on the forums and get some critiques. Just know that if you ask to be hard on the photo's they will! :) good luck and have fun! |

Love all those Cannons, I'm a very war-like individual, but for *photography* I suggest Canons :-)
Welcome!
