This is the website of a friend of mine around here and she is a very popular photographer. What do you all think of her stuff? For me it seems good but so many of her shots seem very hazy and washed out. Obviously I am no expert, just look at my scores lol. So what is your opinion?

I am no lighting expert when it comes to indoor and/or studio shots, but my first impression of the outdoor shots were that they were taken during the day when the sun was directly overhead and at it's harshest.

Those and the rest of the shots do seem washed out and they could definitely benefit from a levels or curves adjustment to start with.

Definitely need some better PP work... And I'm wondering if some of those shots weren't shot in the wrong WB mode

yay, but don't you think that it's a style she is going after? To me it looks purposeful.

I liked the video, she's very real and she does have some great pictures. The almost high key effect almost seems like a signature of hers.

It's her style clearly and I think it works well as an individual look :)

She's *really* good. Nothing there that isn't professionally, and intentionally, rendered.

Definitely in some of them, I don't think so on others, there are a set under weddings engagements, (I think it was the first set second set), the WB looks odd, almost green in the highs. -- Then again, I've never really liked some of the unusual processing styles..

As far as her? She seems really cool, like someone you would want to hang out with a bit.

I really enjoy the look of her pictures.
Some of them have a "vintage" feel, which I'm a sucker for (the warmer tones and saturated colors). The rollerskating picture makes me think of cross-processing, which is entirely fun to look at.

She is a great person and fun to talk to. Very nice and down to earth. She definitely has her own style and for the most part her shots are recognizable to me. I was just wondering what you thought of her style, I like a darker feel to photos so she is very opposite. I just was curious as to other photographers opinions as many times the client thinks their photographer is great even when they have issues. A lot of my friends think my shots are amazing but I know better, I guess if you love photography and are serious about it you realize how much you don't know.

I have seen stuff my sister has done, and I lover her to death but I would refuse to pay her for those shots I have seen. Not horrible but no where near professional quality.

I think they are very pretty. Seems like a very light hearted fun flirty type of look. Thanks for sharing.

I think she's... ok.

Nothing beyond that. She ain't Tony Hoffer that's for sure.

Her outdoor lighting, and control thereof seems pretty bad and I get the impression she covers up shots with that red/yellow 'vintage' look to cover up white balance issues, but i'm postulating.

I only looked at the 'wedding' section mind and it was averagey.

Of the photo's on the main page I don't have any problems with all of them EXCEPT for the last photo with the roller skates. There is no white in the photo anywhere.

The most interesting thing to me about this discussion is the wide variety of opinions about the quality of work - everything from, "Wow! She's great!" to "Wow! She sucks! People pay her for that?"

I like her pictures. Maybe the pictures aren't techinically perfect, but I think sometimes in the pursuit of technical flawlessness we lose creativity and passion both of which I see in her images. These remind me of the time someone posted a bunch of pictures by famous photographers with the critiques modern professionals wrote about them.

And is there some rule that pictures have to have some white in them somewhere?

I like the style of picture, i see it as being done for artistic reasons rather than "so i press this button to take a photo?".

They look very good to me :)
