A local photographer took these shots, pretty amazing to me anyway! Scroll down for more pics.

Cool. Thanks for sharing. It's amazing how big those birds are, although they are still pretty light.

This is a rescued eagle that now lives at a wildlife rehab center in Ohio (Back to the Wild) because it is blind in one eye as a result of being hit by a car. Shown is its "good" side.

The same rehab center also has an eagle that is totally blind as a result of a bad case of West Nile Virus. Most of the hurt/sick eagles (and the other birds) that they rescue are able to return to the wild, but the blind eye or eyes in their two resident eagles makes it not not feasible.

Nice story. Thanks.

Great story and photos Karen! I was able to visit the Alaska Raptor Center in Sitka, Alaska, The have 25 Raptors-in-Residence that they are caring for, some that will never be able to return to the wild. I highly recommend visiting the Center if in Sitka. This is one of the Eagles that was in an open air enclosure so it must have not been able to fly.

Great Story and photos. Love the eye on the eagle as people are carrying it, it makes you think of how intelligent the species really is as it draws you into it.

Need to drag out the photo for this thread, but I caught a picture of a bald eagle in the shark river valley (Everglades...) Apparently, that's pretty rare.
