I was wondering if painting/cloning som shadow does break the Advanced editing rules, primary this one:

"You may not:
use ANY editing technique to create new image area, objects or features (such as lens flare or motion) that didn’t already exist in your original capture(s)."

An exemple picture is this one

where I have combined two images, one with me in it, and one only of the background..
The shadow underneath me was missing where I had the suport under me,, I painted/cloned to extend the shadow under me,
is that regarded as violation of the rules for advanced editing???

It's a violation because the images combined are not of the exact same scene.

ETA: This kind of thing should be fine in Expert Editing.

As your describing it, I would indeed vote DQ. You can't "paint" new things in, even under Advanced rules... and you can't combine shots to create that effect, like cpanaioti explained.

From the rules... you must create your entry from 1-10 captures of a single scene (defined as a scene whose composition/framing does not change). All captures used must be shot within the challenge submission dates.

Allowing submissions to combine multiple shots is mainly for doing HDR stuff.

Definitely not legal in Advanced, since as cpanaioti pointed out, the scene is changing between the captures. As a rule of thumb, multiple captures are only really permitted to increase the quality of the final image, be it focus depth or dynamic range.

Ok,, thanks for the info,, I thought that under Advanced rules, I could mask out things between shoots,, as thats the main teqhnicue I have used in this photo..
The same methood as used in the photos with multiple clones of one person.

Uhhh... those aren't legal, either :) They'd be legal in Expert, but not Advanced. There have been shots where people have made in-camera "multiple clones" by using long shutter speeds and lighting effects... and that's fine. You can't clone yourself in multiple times, though.

Rule of thumb when it comes to challenges. When in doubt, always ask the council prior to submitting. Specially on something you have not done before. :(
Sorry to hear about the DQ

Just to clear out the misunderstanding,, I did not get DQ,, I just wanted to know if such a editing would result in DQ,, I´m currently working on a similar photo that I was wanted to submit to an Free study.

Rather than posting the question in a public thread, which could lead to a loss of anonymity for your eventual entry, you should send a ticket to the SC along with the before/after versions of your prospective entry, and a description of your shooting and editing techniques. Usually you will get a pretty good (but [u]not[/b] binding decision within a day or two. Access to the ticket system is under the Help > Contact Us menu item.

Thanks for the info, I will do that next time I´m in doubt.
