Thought I could do better, so I gave it another go. Prolly needed the potassium anyways...

Hi Amanda,

Boy - that's a toss-up for me. I rated the first one high - and like the 2nd version too. #1 is more mysterious;#2 is more sensual. Both are technically well done. The lighting on # 2 is exceptional.

Specifically for #2 - the bracelet draws attention, being the brightest spot in the image, probably not what you intended. I'm also not sure the reddish color in the necklace goes that well with tungsten lighting.

My guess is that #2 would have scored higher than #1 in the banana challenge.

This reminds me of the thread where a challenge would be to REDO a challenge, implementing some of the recommendations made. May be kinda fun.

I like the colors and the overall movement and pose better in the new one. But i liked the first one too, as I think movement blurring adds a whole new wonderful dimension to photography.

The background in the second with its blur also adds a nice touch.

It might be interesting to try, if you are still working for perfection, to get the hips/bananas moving, and everything else mostly still. Then, after you've perfected that, try the opposite. (Your second attempt seems closer to that latter goal to me, and while I would have predicted the first setup with hip movement would be better, I like the movement here.)

I agree that the second seems to better fulfill what you're going for, but honestly, I personally prefer the first. There is a mystery to it. Asthetically, I think it holds my attention longer. It is something I would hang on my wall or give to an artistic friend. It mesmerizes me.

The first one provides a nice abstract feel but when viewed during the challenge I thought the tone was a little too cool. I'm sure it was intentional, but I think a slightly warmer tone would have made it a more intimate abstract.

I like the warmer tone in the second image and the pose is fantastic. The sense of movement is what continues to pull me to look at it again and again. Very dynamic and very well done.

I jumped back and forth tring to decide if you had improved with the second... and then decided that both shots are great.

I really like the second one...very stylish and tastefully done, and it really screams Josephine Baker to me. Of course, I liked the first one as well, but I think I like the second one best of all. :o)

PS - who'da ever thought about naked people and bananas getting so much publicity on this site? :0) LOL

I like the 2nd one a lot more. I did not vote the first one very high, but I would have given the second one a 10. I like the colours, the lighting is perfect, the sense of motion, the skin tones...

ps: were you the model for that shot?

the second one is really great. just enough motion to give the sense of the dancing, yet the image is clear enough to tell a story. I like the inclusion of the hands, and the lighting/background are wonderful. great shot!

Thank you all VERY much for your comments! I'd love to have a redo challenge- I thought it was a really gratifying excercise. And doctornick, there was no way I was gonna get someone else to pose naked with bananas- twice. *blush*
