I'd like to start a 'how would you PP this?' side challenge in the honor of the "Individual Photograph" discussions that I learn so much from.

The challenge would be to edit and to give your PP steps.

Anyone can contribute originals.

Seems like a win/win.

Thinking out loud again. BRB

ETA: Signing up is not necessary, but keeping track of potential PP participants is fun :D

Ah, we've had something similar before, though hosted outside the DPC site (I think before we had the Side Challenge threads).

Someone contributed an unedited photo, and everyone then posted their version of how to edit it for comments.

I've actually been mulling this SC around in my head for quite some time. I learn a lot from the individual photograph threads that ask for PP help.

I figure we'll start on the 1st of February. I'll post a call for originals and submit one myself. Anybody can post an original, even (especially) those who do not plan on participating in the PP.

Throughout the first three weeks of February the participants will post their PP'd originals along with the original and their PP process in the thread.

At the beginning of the last week, I'll post a call for nominations. I'll keep track of the votes and award the winner with a crafty new virtual medal.

Thoughts?

Oh, and I'm not so good at crafty virtual stuff so ideas for an award are appreciated.

First the originals will need to be posted to workshop, and the larger the original file the better.

Don't know how much participating I will do but I will be watching and reading!

Will need to specify a ruleset as well.
01/16/2010 10:19:56 AM · #16
Rules.....rules, we don't need no stinking rules......:)

I was thinking maybe we'll follow the advanced rules here. I'd also be looking forward to some basic and expert rules in the future months of this SC if all goes well.

ok, stupid question.

pp?

photoshop practice?
purple petunias?

I know I'm looking like an idiot, but I'm not quite sure what pp is, (actually, that lends itself to a good joke...), but there might be other people that are confused, as well.

That's actually what I was guessing. But I wanted to make sure I wasn't signing up for a PowerPoint challenge!

Sounds cool, I'll give it a go!

Can only paid members participate in this?

Not at all, but as a registered member, you don't have a portfolio on DPC to post to. If you have a Flickr account you can post the images there and I can tell you what to do so you can post thumbnails in a discussion thread on DPC. Like this:

Is anyone one else in this SC besides me using PaintShop Pro?

Would this be a Feb SC ?

I'm always fascinated by how shot's can be re-edited, but I'm not sure how much time I can give to it.
