Visiting South California for 9 days. If I can do either San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal park, which one you suggest?

Also, any other suggestions for photography attraction in San Diago/LA not be missed.

The gorilla enclosure of the wild animal park is great. As far as more animals will be found in the zoo though. One thing I didnt care about at the zoo when I was there was teh crowd. The enclosures are terrible for photoghraphers IMO. Except the Polar bears, ;)

I prefer the WAP, certainly can't go wrong either way. Don't forget the coastline. La Jolla, Laguna, and Crystal Cove State Park, among others. Anza Borrego and Joshua Tree will provide dramatic scenes for landscapesmacanese get cold. The local mountains will have snow at the higher elevations.

I remember photographing the WAP for the architects over the years. I'm very fond of the place. But I spent a LOT more time at the zoo... I was a zoological society member for a long time, so had free access to either place. One thing that's really cool in the zoo is the chance to shoot hippos underwater. WAP is more of a total experience, however..

For either place, be SURE you're waiting when the gates open; the animals are MUCH more active early in the morning. Inb the zoo, head down past the newish tiger exhibit then do the polar bears and the hippos, then the gorillas.

Get to Coronado for a late afternoon. The Hotel Del Coronado is a legendary place by itself. Right now though, it's all decked out in lights. They have a giant christmas tree in the lobby. An ice skating rink on the lawn. It sits on one of the worlds most pristine beaches with great views and it's virtually empty. If that's not enough, then go down the road about a mile after that and hit up Ferry Landing where there are some little shops but more importantly it's the best view of our cities skyline. Sunset is 4:45p for reference.

I have still not been to the Wild Animal Park (without a car it is a ways away for me) but do get to the zoo fairly regularly. It is a great place. Pandas are most active at feeding time which if I recall correctly is about 3:00 or 3:30. Would still like to get to the WAP someday. Hear the animals are a bit further away than the zoo but the environments are more natural. I did get over to Coronado recently. Not many places you can ice skate on the beach amid palm trees. Thomas Edison himself helped install the first electric lights at the Hotel Del.
