Hi,
I've seen a lot of work here where images are created using the 'painting with light' technique. I'm intrigued and want to try some shots - any suggestions and/or recommendations as to light sources for this? I've tried using your typical flashlight, but it seems to be a broad light source and I am more looking for something that is sharp and bright. I've tried searching on the web, but nothing really pops up as being relevant or right.
Thanks much!
Sunita

Some of the smaller Maglites are meant to be good. I've got a smallish one and it can give off quite a narrow bright beam. |

As Clive stated the small Maglites are good to use, I've used cheap LED key chain lights, and other random pen lights in the past as well with some nice results.
I believe most of the shots above have the camera settings I used as well as some other tips.
You can also check out these past challenges, they should offer up some great learning on this outstanding technique.

Feel free to PM me if there is anything else I can assist you with.
Have fun!

Thanks Clive and Steve! I'll look for the maglites. Steve - I've had little to no success with key chain lights for some reason :( guess I just need to try harder...thanks also for the painting with light challenges links - I'll check them out as well.
