I saw a man carrying a child. But something was wrong with the child. He (?) appeared to be about five or so, was bald, pale, and had an unrelenting fixed gaze on the man. The man himself was somewhat mysterious. He was tall with a long black overcoat, looked very uncompassionate, and was walking with purpose. The whole thing was bizarre, unsettling and totally intriguing.

For a moment, I admit, I thought he was a ventriloquist carrying his dummy. Then I decided that the child must be handicapped in some way, and I felt bad for staring, and worse for wishing I had my camera. As I got closer, I realized, that the child was in fact inanimate -- a life-size doll or dummy, that he was carrying like a child. Dammit! I always have my camera on my lunch hour, but I was just going out to Subway for some lunch. Since last night was Light Up Night here in Pittsburgh, all I can guess is that this was a Nativity prop (or some such) in transit, as the city was being heavily decorated this week. Another Kodak moment gone forever...

Fantastic anecdote bvy. I'm often chilled and unnerved by the sinister and uncanny aspects of dolls and mannikins. They make for wonderfully strange subjects for photography or literature (one of my favourite writers favourite subjects)

Everything I can see from my window while trapped in front of the computer (I'm working on a research paper).

-edit-
I decided to take a 5 minute break. Snapped this from my dining room. Wish I could spend some time out there today... (the weather is amazing).

A big beautiful hawk sitting on a fencepost by the side of the road.

I wasn't driving, and there was all kinds of traffic, so I couldn't just whip off the road and hop out.

So I just stared at it as we crept past......with my camera in my hand.....8>(

A hawk landed in a bush about ten feet away from me while I was taking pictures for the landscape challenge, but saw me and immediately flew off again (behind bushes and a hill) before I could get the camera turned and focused on it.

There's a man who comes to the gym with his 11 year old son. The son was standing on a piece of equipment so he was slightly taller than his dad, with his arm around his dad's shoulder and talking to him. There was just something about the way they were looking at eachother that would have made a very sweet photo.

I did take a picture with my camera phone of all the jail inmates walking over to court. You don't usually see 20 jailbirds walking across at one time.

I went driving around to get some photos of the snow. Parked my car and stepped out to take a nice landscape shot. I heard something moving in the bushes on the other side of my car. A fox was on the hill 20 feet away. And I'm standing there with a 10-20mm lens on my camera and my zoom lens in the car. The fox didn't have the decency to stick around while I changed lenses.
