Spotted on my way into work. The house didn't look like this last week. Holy crap!

Haha, I love the anarchy symbol...you know how vicious those upper middle class suburban anarcho kids are!

I'd assume that house is abandoned, as they were clearly in the house to do some of that.

Punks.

I think Sam, Ginger, and Austen will be getting a visit from a nice person dressed in blue.

[disclaimer: yes, Sam, Ginger, and Austen may have been diversionary names, aliases if you will, to throw The Man off the trail, a red herring if you will. My gut reaction, a gut reaction if you will, is that the punks weren't erudite enough to formulate such a plan.]

Well they obviously did some of that vandalism from the windows, which still appear to be open and suggest more damage inside. There's no sale sign in front of the house, and the yard is fairly well maintained. I'm guessing the owners might just be out of town. :-(

That's crazy vandalism -- expensive to repair. I'm sure the owner will involve the police.

Whats interesting is that the cross in the circle (essentially crosshairs) is pretty close to a popular white power symbol.

*Called: THE SUN CROSS.

What exactly can be done about stuff like that? A pain in the derriere and a huge expense for the homeowner, who has no recourse whatsoever and this all happened essentially through no fault of their own. Does not even compare to the five teenagers who set another teenager on fire, on purpose. I cannot even begin to think what kind of punishment would fit that crime. Well, I can, but it is not humane.

What can be done? BREAKING AND ENTERING. VANDALISM. Clearly they were inside the house. Clearly there is damage to the house exterior at least. Through in a Trespassing and you probably are getting closer to what can be done. Something like this always is talked about in a high school and 2 conversations turn into 20 and when the cops show up to ask questions and question the kids who so wisely left their names on the building some answers will come out. And they will give them the do you want to go down for this alone and of course they won't so everybody gets dinged. If the property owners are nice they will agree to pay for all damage and we won't press charges, or they could go after them. So from my end there is quite a bit they can do. You can get arrested for throwing toilet paper in the trees of someones house by trespassing so yeah they can do something about this.

Oh come on - a little photoshop will clean that all up.

And I assume with photoshop they will get a new watchful pet godzilla for the yard.

I'm waiting for the first article where a parent, when confronted with their child's alleged crimes say, "ya, that sounds about right."
11/03/2009 02:56:28 PM · #20
you keep waiting. there are parents willing to admit, but it's rare their quotes get printed...

ETA: how would handle a situation like that knowing ( as the smart person you are ) how the press would potentially rip you apart ?

There are plenty of parents who, through no fault of their own, are disconnected from the lives of their adolescent kids outside of home.

I've had students whose parents, upon hearing about something like this, would call the school or police and see if their child did it.

Of course, in the past (and to a lesser degree now), my students were a bit more "at risk" of such behavior. (One of our local papers prints a "police/incident report" each week. I have yet to read one that doesn't have someone I taught on it)
