The situation is this: I share a computer with several people. We each have a password-protected section of the computer inside which our settings and personal work are supposedly safe and isolated from other users.

The problem is, if I am working on a photo in PSP and leave the computer for a few minutes, sometimes I will get back to find that person X (other computer user) has logged me off and gone onto their own profile. This is annoying because my - perhaps hours of - work will either be gone entirely or saved on top of the original file. Either way I lose all the undo steps I had, and twice already I have lost an original JPEG straight from the camera. I was going to enter one of these on DPC (ARGHHhhhhh...)

Does anyone know of any methods or downloadable programs that I can use that will:

- save the current image (under a new name) when you click "No" after the "Save changes...?" message appears, or

- save my undo/redo steps from PSP to the hard drive, or

- autosave every minute or so to several files in sequence e.g. 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg.

What I want to happens is that, when I am logged off by person X, I can retrieve my work at a later time. Does anyone know how I could achieve this?

I think that you should just save your work before leaving the computer.

I have often forgott to save files then went home after a long work day and the power goes of at the night but I never learn so I understand your problem :) People always tell me to save my work as often as I can :P

I think the tough part is that unless you are working on raw images, each jpeg save results in compounding loss. Because of this you can't save frequently. Another plus for raw I guess.

I'm not sure there's an easy answer to the challenge other than not leaving a work in progress unattended on a shared machine.

I'm not positive but I believe that if I just keep the original JPEG open in PSP then I can save as often as I like without introducing the extra JPEG compression that would result from opening and closing the image every time.

I try to save as often as I can but I often forget to for long periods of time. I also like to be able to undo and redo as much as I like - something lost when saving and re-opening a project.
